Nutrient Content Tags
Overview
Nutrient Content Tags can identify foods that are "High" Cholesterol or Sugar "Free" across 9 different nutrients, based on a standard 100 g or 100 ml serving.
The serving type selected is based on the food_form, and the amount of the nutrient within the selected serving determines the tag applied.
The pre-defined tag ranges are shown in the Thresholds by Nutrient table below.

A nutrient is omitted when the food has no value for it. A nutrient whose value falls outside every band, such as dietary fiber below 1 g per 100 ml for a beverage, is returned without a tag.
Nutrient Content Tags are returned on the latest food.get and foods.search endpoints by setting the include_nutrient_content_tags flag.
The include_nutrient_content_tags flag is available for Premier and Premier Free accounts, and can be enabled by getting in touch to enable Premier Exclusive features on your account.
Which serving is used
Thresholds may be applied against a standardized 100 g or 100 ml serving size depending on the
food form.
| Solid |
100 g |
Assessed against the solid thresholds below. |
| Liquid (non-beverage) |
100 g, or 100 ml when no gram weight is available |
Assessed against the solid thresholds below using a 100 g serving. When no gram weight is available for the food, the beverage thresholds are used against a 100 ml serving. |
| Beverage |
100 ml |
Assessed against the beverage thresholds below. |
The serving used for the calculation is returned in the reference_basis property of the nutrient_content_tags.
Tags
The following table shows the seven tags that are available for return.

Note that not all tags appear against each nutrient. Refer to the thresholds by nutrient table below for those mappings.
The name returned for a tag can vary by nutrient, as shown in the Returned name by nutrient column. Use the tag id when matching tags.
Thresholds by nutrient
The tables below give the exact band values for each nutrient/tag for the 100 g and 100 ml servings.
Each band is marked either Primary or Secondary based on its significance. Primary bands are the most meaningful. Secondary
bands indicate that the nutrient was assessed, but the result would rarely be worth surfacing on its own.
Primary worth surfacing
Secondary assessed, rarely surfaced alone
